Day 4, Prague

Morning walking tour. First, up the famed astronomical clock for beautiful views of the "City of 1000 Spires". Then, we explored the romantic art nouveau neighborhoods in the Jewish quarter. Here, we also discovered the Via Veneto of Prague, that is, the shopping district where Gucci, Dior, Valentino, Burberry, etc have stores.

Anne and Laura went up to Letna Park for a scenic view of the city (and gelato) while Nonna Paola ambled along the river in the shade. The trio met up for lunch near the Charles Bridge, visited a marionette store, and sampled gingerbread.

A few things we learned on yesterday's walking tour: 1. 40% of Czechs are dog owners, 2. Dogs are allowed in public libraries, 3. Prague is one of the safest cities in the world, 4. Using public transportation is easy + 65 and up ride free! Armed with this knowledge, the 2 nonne went to "repose" while Anne went on a tram adventure, all meeting up at Old Prague House to regroup for our tram ride up to Petrin Hill. There, the mock Eiffel Tower which we had hoped to climb for sunset viewing turned out to be closed. The park had lovely rose gardens and plenty of benches, so we ate our Tesco purchases there. Tram home.

Cautionary tail: It was warm. We left our 2nd floor windows open. In the morning, a strange Starbucks cup was on our bedroom floor. It had leaked on the carpet. Anne remembered a loud noise around 4am. So did Paola. We assume one of the late night revelers must have been practicing his aim. Glad the reveler wasn't pole vaulting. 😉
